Not only did Tropical Storm Irene leave half of Connecticut without power, it also forced the closure of Department of Motor Vehicle offices in Old Saybrook and Winsted Tuesday.

DMV officials said they are working to repair storm-related damages and hope to open both offices as soon as possible.

In the meantime, customers looking to renew drivers license photos can visit a AAA office but they should call ahead to ensure the office isn’t also closed due to storm damage, a DMV statement said.

For other services, folks who were planning on heading to the Old Saybrook office can go to the Hamden or Norwich branches instead. Customers who planned to go to Winsted can go to the DMV office in Waterbury.

A list of DMV office locations is available at the department’s website.
