Former Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz is trading his job as education coordinator for AFSCME Council 4 for a job lobbying for Gaffney Bennett and Associates.

“In bringing Joe into the firm, we hope to continue the tradition at GBA to enlist hard working professionals with experience and integrity to bring to bear on public policy challenges on behalf of our clients,” Jay F. Malcynsky, managing partner at Gaffney Bennett and Associates, said in a statement.

“We believe that, coupled with our existing group of talented professionals with decades of experience in the field, the addition of Joe Aresimowicz to the Gaffney Bennett Team will help ensure that GBA will continue to enjoy success by producing positive results for our clients for many years to come,” Malcynsky added.

Gaffney Bennett and Associates has eight full-time lobbyists and lawyers. Over his 16 years as a lawmaker, there would have been times when Aresimowicz would have worked in opposition to some of the firm’s clients, but that had no bearing on the decision to hire him, according to a spokeswoman for the firm.
