HARTFORD, CT —Nursing homes account for 55.9% of all COVID-19 deaths in Connecticut, according to the latest state report.
The report released late Thursday shows there is at least one COVID-19 positive patient at 150 of the state’s 215 nursing homes. That’s up from 135 last week.
COVID-19 cases in nursing homes increased from 3,423 to 4,814 between April 22 and April 29.
The report shows that there are at least three nursing homes with 35 or more deaths or probable deaths associated with COVID-19.
Abbott Terrace Health Center in Waterbury has 120 COVID positive patients and 37 deaths. Riverside Health & Rehabilitation Center in East Hartford has 125 positive cases and 39 deaths. Kimberly Hall North in Windsor has 55 positive cases and 39 deaths.

Last week, Gov. Ned Lamont ordered nursing facilities to report daily coronavirus deaths to the Department of Public Health or face a $5,000 fine.
In addition, in order to help with infection control the Connecticut National Guard is now accompanying the Department of Public Health on unannounced visits to nursing homes.
