HARTFORD, CT – Connecticut’s health insurance exchange is reporting that personally identifiable information of 1,100 customers was compromised.
The email phishing incident was discovered Oct. 31, 2019, which was one day before open enrollment for 2020 began.
Access Health CT General Counsel Susan Rich-Bye said they began an investigation immediately and hired a forensic security firm to investigate the scope of the data breach.
Access Health will be offering two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft restoration services to any affected customers.
The consumers who have been impacted will receive an orange envelope in the mail with information about how to enroll in these services.
“Access Health CT takes the privacy and security of consumers’ personal information seriously, and it is making this public notice in an abundance of caution,” Access Health CT CEO James Michel said. “We apologize for any inconvenience to consumers and we remain steadfast in our commitment to keep our consumers’ best interests as our number one priority.”
