HARTFORD, CT — It may look like the NFL’s Detroit Lions have hacked the House Democrats’ website, but it appears to be the work of a hacker who claims to be from Egypt.

As of Wednesday night no demand or ransom had been received by the caucus from “Dr. SiLnT HilL,” but the hijacked version of the site displays what appears to be an unauthorized use of the Detriot Lions’ logo and instructions on where to make contact online.

The site included biographical information and press releases for all Democratic representatives in Connecticut’s House of Representatives.

As of 9 a.m. Thursday, the site was not back online and the Capitol Police said they were aware of the incident, but not involved. No formal complaint had been filed with police at that time, said Officer Scott Driscoll.

Matt Brokman, chief of staff for the caucus, said that “based on the information we currently have, we believe that our system and data is safe.” He said the information technology staff is working to resolve the issue.

This is a developing story. Check back later for more information.
