Republican legislative leaders will hold an informational hearing at noon Wednesday in an effort to get answers about the various revenue figures projected by the executive branch.
The nonpartisan Office of Fiscal Analysis is expected to attend, but Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s budget director, Ben Barnes, declined an invitation due to a previously scheduled appointment. Barnes offered to meet with Republicans to go over his revenue projections at a different time.
It’s still unclear whether state Comptroller Kevin Lembo will accept an invitation to speak at the hearing.
In addition to going over budget projections, Republicans want to discuss the role of the comptroller and whether it should be expanded to allow it to do more of an independent analysis of the budget numbers.
The noon meeting will be held in Room 2B of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
