Every day Eric Cruz Lopez has to curb his fear that his parents will be deported.
“We just try not to think about it,” Cruz Lopez said. “We try to be positive and think tomorrow they will be there.”
Cruz Lopez shared his story on the steps of City Hall Thursday afternoon as part of a rally for immigration reform. Cruz Lopez is a sophomore at the University of Connecticut and is studying biomedical engineering on a full scholarship, thanks to the protections afforded by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which protects undocumented students from deportation, he said.
