A nonprofit organization committed to educating people about their end-of-life options is showing an award-winning documentary tonight at Real Art Ways in Hartford.
The film, “How to Die in Oregon,” will be followed by a panel discussion led by Compassion & Choices President Barbara Coombs Lee.
Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Documentaries at the 27th Sundance Film Festival, the film looks first-hand at the resources in Oregon that provide people death with dignity.
Compassion & Choices counsels people on ways they can control when and how they die if they wish.
Legislation that would allow a doctor to prescribe a lethal dose of medication to a terminally-ill patient failed to pass the Public Health Committee this year, but it’s likely to be raised again in the 2015 legislative session.
The screening will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a discussion.
Real Art Ways is located at 56 Arbor Street in Hartford.
