One of three Republicans vying for the number two slot claims she raised enough funds to qualify for the Citizens Election Program.

State Rep. Penny Bacchiochi of Stafford said last week that she has raised more than the necessary $75,000 from 1,200 individuals to qualify for the program. The state Elections Enforcement Commission will still have to approve the donations and determine which ones qualify toward the goal before it’s official. Bacchiochi has raised about $120,000, but not all of it will qualify toward the $75,000 goal.

Bacchiochi will need the support of 15 percent of the delegates this weekend at the Republican convention in order to gain access to the primary ballot. David Walker of Bridgeport and Heather Somers of Groton are also vying for lieutenant governor.

Bacchiochi has been raising money since March 2013.
