This year marks the 11th year of lawmakers’ Secret Santa clothing drive for the veterans at the state home in Rocky Hill.
“It was a very, very good turnout this year. It’s a big variety of clothing,” Rep. Betty Boukus said Thursday at the culmination of the drive. “. . . We always get a little concerned toward the end and then it just blossoms. So we’re very thankful.”
This year is likely the last year with State Veterans Affairs Commissioner Linda Schwartz, who accepted a nomination last month from President Obama to serve as an assistant secretary within the federal VA.
“She’ll be sorely missed,” Boukus said.
