Bipartisanship Over Ayala?

While Democrats and Republicans are still divided in Washington, they’ve found common ground in Connecticut when it comes to what should be done with Bridgeport Rep. Christina Ayala.

“Given all the allegations surrounding Rep. Ayala, and given the amount of time and energy she’s going to have to expend in defending herself, the wise course of action here would be for her to step down,” Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo told a television station.

Yesterday, Elections Enforcement Commission attorneys handed over allegations that Ayala may have used a false address to vote in nine primaries and elections.

Technically, DiNardo says she wasn’t calling for Ayala to step down and was simply pointing to the reality of the situation, but that’s not how the Republican Party read her statement.

“This probably goes without saying, but we also think Rep. Ayala needs to resign immediately,” the CT GOP wrote in a tweet.
