MAY 14, 2012: During the convention at the Rotella Magnet School in Waterbury, Soucy is wearing a hidden camera as he thanks Donovan for killing the bill, which Donovan denies
However, regardless of what Donovan or his surrogates have said about his motivation to end the conversation with Soucy that evening, or what, if anything, Donovan knew about the donations before the convention, Soucy has now provided evidence that Donovan was made aware that the smoke shop owners had been trying to bribe him to kill the RYO legislation. Failure to Report A Bribe is a Class A Misdemeanor.
Soucy then hands Nassi another $10,000 in straw donations – $7,500 to the campaign and $2,500 to the state Democrats.
On way out, Soucy also finds Braddock, and their conversation includes the following exchange:
HRS: I just ran in thanked the man . . .
HRS: twenty thousand was well worth it.
HRS: And another 10 grand (UI)
RB: You’re the man
