Following the explosions at the Boston Marathon on Monday, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said the people of Massachusetts are in “our thoughts and prayers.”

“Connecticut’s law enforcement officials and emergency responders are in close contact with their counterparts both in Massachusetts and with federal homeland security officials as we continue to receive information about the horrific events in Boston,” Malloy said. “We will offer our full support to our neighboring state and assist in any way we can.”

The final mile of the marathon was dedicated to the 26 children and adults who lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. The Newtown community had several runners entered in the race. According to this Connecticut Post article, a handful finished the race and were not injured in the explosion.
