A poll commissioned by the Everybody Benefits campaign in favor of paid sick days was being passed around the House chamber Friday evening as the debate on paid sick leave entered its eighth hour of debate.
The poll issued on May 27 by Anzalone Liszt Research said a statewide survey of 600 likely Connecticut voters found 64 percent in favor of it and 29 percent opposed. After hearing the details of the proposal support increases to 73 percent with just 24 percent opposed. Then even when negative information about the bill was given the poll found 66 percent support it and 31 percent were opposed.
The poll was conducted April 13-17 long before the Senate vote May 25. The Senate passed the bill 18-17 after six hours of debate.
