On Christmas Eve U.S. Sen.-elect Richard Blumenthal announced several key staff appointments.

Richard Kehoe, who served as Blumenthal’s special counsel and liaison to the state legislature, will be Blumenthal’s state director. Kehoe also serves as chairman of the East Hartford Town Council.

Maura Downes, Blumenthal’s press secretary for his U.S. Senate campaign, will be the director of constituent services in Connecticut.

Ty Matsdorf, who also worked on Blumenthal’s campaign, will serve as his communications director in Washington D.C. Before joining Blumenthal’s campaign Matsdorf was U.S. Sen. Max Baucus’ communications director.

Kate Hansen, who worked as Communications Director for the Connecticut Democratic Party during the 2010 campaign, will be Blumenthal’s Washington D.C. press secretary. Hansen of New Haven previously served as communications director for Congressman Patrick Murphy.

Blumenthal’s deputy chief of staff will be Elizabeth Kanick, a former staff in Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Senate office. More recently, she was executive director of the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO.

Earlier this month, Blumenthal announced that Laura Rubiner will serve as his chief of staff in Washington D.C.
