(Updated) It may be a snow day for some, but for thousands of state workers Monday, Dec. 27 will be an unpaid furlough day.

Monday is the latest in seven unpaid furlough days agreed to by state workers two years ago during contract negotiations with Gov. M. Jodi Rell.

All administrative offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles, will be closed. Due to the snow all state courts will also be closed Monday according to a message posted on the Judicial Branch’s website. U.S. District Courts in New Haven, Hartford, and Bridgeport will also be closed.

Parking bans are in effect for many cities and towns. Hartford’s and Bridgeport’s will be in effect until Tuesday morning. Residents are encouraged to park their cars in school parking lots in both those cities until the parking ban is lifted.
