U.S. Sen.-elect Richard Blumenthal tapped the architect of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s health care reform plan to be his chief of staff.
Laurie Rubiner, who worked for Clinton and the late Sen. John Chafee of Rhode Island, is Blumenthal’s first hire of his U.S. Senate career.
Rubiner’s most recent job has been at the Planned Parenthood Federation of America where she lobbied on women‘s issues and abortion rights.
“Laurie brings to my office and to the people of Connecticut a passion for public service, invaluable experience in the Senate, unparalleled policy expertise, and mostly importantly, she shares my commitment to make Washington work for the people of Connecticut,” said Blumenthal.
During her career with Clinton, Rubiner’s career on Capitol Hill was highlighted in this 2007 New York Times story.
