Putting to rest any rumors he would be returning to the state Capitol, former state Senator and Linda McMahon’s campaign manager David Cappiello of Danbury, accepted a fundraising job with a nonprofit that services people with disabilities.

Ability Beyond Disability hired Cappiello as its vice president of development.

“Our success depends on our ability to grow and provide services to more people who will need our help now, and in the future,” said Thomas H. Fanning, president and CEO of the organization. “In order to do that we need to raise more money from new sources of support and I am certain that David’s leadership, knowledge and personal and professional experience will assure our success.

In addition to helping the organization raise over $50 million annually, Cappiello will be responsible for helping the organization overcome the likelihood of decreased public funding as both New York and Connecticut face tremendous budget challenges.

“State budgets are being faced with the largest deficits in their history,” Cappiello said. “Organizations are hurting and are counting on philanthropic dollars to survive.  I am committed to leading efforts to raise more money for Ability Beyond Disability so that we can continue to be a nationally recognized provider of services for people with disabilities.”
