Rep. Tom Reynolds, whose race for state comptroller has been on and off over the past year, officially withdrew his name from consideration Tuesday.

After losing the Democratic nomination to State Healthcare Advocate Kevin Lembo this weekend, Reynolds decided to pull out of the primary despite receiving 25 percent of the delegate support.

“Although we qualified easily for a primary, I have concluded that the interests of the state, the party, and my family are best served by declining such an opportunity,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds said he is endorsing Lembo for the position.

Waterbury Mayor Mike Jarjura also polled 19 percent of the delegates, which is enough to continue to the primary. Jarjura was unable to be reached for comment Tuesday.
