Republicans and Democrats begin their nominating conventions today and there will be plenty of political careers made and broken. Christine Stuart of CTNewsJunkie will be covering the Republicans at the Connecticut Convention Center, while Melissa Bailey and Thomas MacMillan of the New Haven Independent will be covering the Democrats at the Connecticut Expo Center. Both organizations will be augmenting their coverage with feeds from LocalOnlineNews.TV, and Connecticut Network (CT-N) will stream both events live online. The Republicans have 1,444 delegates and the Democrats have 1,829 delegates looking to nominate candidates for U.S. Senate, governor, and five other constitutional offices. The Republicans will also be nominating its Congressional candidates in each of the five districts. The Democratic Party already held the nominating conventions for each of its five Congressional incumbents earlier this week since none of them had challengers.
The gatherings promise to be a raucous affair with floor fights, arm-twisting, and delegate vote swapping.
