Speculation that Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell may not seek reelection in 2010 mounted last week when Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele said he would be the Republican candidate for governor if Rell didn’t run.
“Mike has been a great lieutenant governor and he would make a wonderful governor, but there’s no opening right now,” Rell said Monday following an event at Valley Falls in Vernon. “I really am focusing on trying to get a budget but I do have an exploratory committee and I will continue to raise funds for that.”
“I have not made a decision and I’m not really going to announce a decision until after we get a budget whenever that may be,” Rell said.
