After three complaints that he endangered women’s lives by refusing to serve restraining orders, Marshal Charles Vingiano has offered to stop working at a city courthouse—but keep working elsewhere.

Vingiano, who’s 83, has been on the run: The State Marshal Commission disciplined him in response to two complaints that he rudely refused to serve temporary restraining orders (TROs) to women’s alleged abusers. Vingiano also faces a third complaint from a third woman whom he allegedly refused to help.
