The State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition is airing this ad starting today asking that wealthy residents and corporations step up and contribute to help the state close its $8.7 billion budget deficit. State employees have contributed approximately $700 million in budget savings, in the form of wage freezes and furlough days, among other givebacks. According to a union spokesman, another ad will begin airing at the end of next week, which will be more specific about how it wants the wealthy and corporations to contribute. Think tax increases. The ad cost an estimated $10,000 to produce and $104,000 to air on broadcast and cable stations statewide.
