Sen. Gary LeBeau, D-East Hartford, will testify in favor of a bill which will change the way the legislature is comprised. LeBeau is proposing a unicameral legislature made up of 60 members, instead of a House with 151 members and a Senate with 36 members. LeBeau’s plan also calls for the current two year term to be extended to a four year term.

In addition to LeBeau’s bill the General Administration and Elections Committee will hold a public hearing on a number constitutional changes, and a bill which would officially make ballroom polka the official state polka and a bill to make the polka the official state dance.

Also the Public Health Committee will debate a bill concerning smoking in casinos.
