Patrick Scully, former state Senate communications director, will join former Speaker James Amann’s gubernatorial campaign.

Scully will serve as communications director, which will include acting as campaign spokesman, liaison to the media, and communications strategist. He will also give input on policy issues.

“Jim approached me a couple of weeks ago to ask if I was interested in helping his campaign by running the communications aspects. As many people know, I have been running my own communications and media consulting operation,” Scully said in a press release. “I’ll continue that work as time permits, but this opportunity is important and challenging so I am honored to take it on.”

“We’ve very excited to have Patrick on board.  He is a proven media expert. During his years in the state Senate, I have had the opportunity to get to know him,” Amann said in a press release. “His straightforward, straight-shooting approach is just what I was looking for. He is very well-known in the state’s media circles and his comfort in front of the cameras, microphones and notebooks will be very helpful.  It will go along way toward getting the message out.”

Amann officially kicks off his campaign for governor Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport.
