Sources at the legislature this week said state budget officials are preparing reports that will put the current fiscal year’s deficit at about $1 billion, despite about $123 million in spending cuts this week by the General Assembly. That’s up from an earlier prediction for a deficit of about $350 million.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell’s office has set up a Web site where people can make budget suggestions. The site was set up on Oct. 27. Thus far, according to the governor’s spokesman, they have received more than 900 suggestions. In the past week, the the site has been receiving about 50 suggestions a day.
