Last week Gov. M. Jodi Rell asked a lame duck legislature to return to the Capitol Jan. 2 to help plug the 2009 budget deficit, however, she has no power to force them to return and take a vote.

The Democratic Majority is weighing their options and on Dec. 26 will discuss the possibility of returning to the Capitol five days before the start of the regular session, which starts Jan. 7. According to this article in Waterbury Republican American, Senate President Donald Williams, D-Brooklyn, has already said he doesn’t think they should return for a special session.
