Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell wrote this letter to state legislators Monday asking them to hold public meetings on this year’s anticipated $145.7 million budget deficit.
Rell said she also wants to make it clear she will not approve any tax increases to make up for the red ink.
Upset by an increase a joint legislative committee gave to homeowners qualifying for the federal low-income heating assistance program, Rell urged lawmakers to meet with budget officials to discuss the deficit.
Rell said she plans to order more budget cuts at state agencies in the coming weeks.
