According to this press release, State Comptroller Nancy Wyman, has summoned the three insurance companies that administer the state employees health insurance plan to meet with her about threats to increase rates if Gov. M. Jodi Rell signs a bill allowing nonprofits, municipalities and small businesses to join the pool.
Rell has said she has concerns about the bill and the possible rate increases, which could create a $54 million hole in the state budget. Wyman wants the insurance companies to prove how the bill would increase the rates.
