
US Congressman Joe Courtney will hold a Congressional meeting at the Legislative Office Building here in Hartford today at 2:30 p.m. to hear testimony regarding H.R. 2833, Preexisting Condition Exclusion Patient Protection Act of 2007.
According to a press release, The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, HIPAA, provides some protections for individuals enrolled in group health coverage. However, Courtney’s bill extends HIPAA protections to an estimated 158 million Americans insured through employer-based private plans and non-group individual plans.
