Two days before New York’s Lt. Gov. David Paterson gets sworn in as governor, Connecticut’s Gov. M. Jodi Rell, who made a similar transition in 2004, sent him a tongue-in-cheek “care package” to welcome him to “the often-stressful, but always-rewarding role of a state’s Chief Executive.”
“Governor Rell’s “care package” includes: a Magic 8 Ball (“to guide your decisions”), an “easy” button from the Staples office supply store (“nothing is easy”), Pepto-Bismol and Excedrin (“for those tough days and nights – and there will be many”), a Connecticut-made Wiffle ball (“for your staff to let off steam”) and a season pass to Connecticut’s 138 state parks and forests (“when you need to get away and just enjoy the great outdoors!”).”
