(Updated with corrected returns.) Barack Obama grabbed 68 percent of New Haven’s vote in Tuesday’s Democratic presidential primary, beating Hillary Clinton in all parts of the city except the East Shore. Statewide the race was closer: Obama slipped past Clinton by 50-48 percent.

Democratic Town Chairwoman Susie Voigt declared victory for Obama at 8:50 p.m. at a campaign party at Hula Hanks on Crown Street.

The final total (on the voting machines, not including absentee ballots) had Obama defeating Clinton in New Haven with around 12,033 to 5,727, or more than two to one.
