Gov. M. Jodi Rell officially lifted her ban on parole Sunday when her office issued this press release.
The press release says now that the new procedures and safeguards have been put in place, the parole applications of violent offenders will start to be considered by the Board of Pardons and Parole.
“With the new procedures in place and important components of the criminal justice reform bill effective upon passage, I believe we have instituted important new safeguards that allow us to resume carefully monitored community release programs,” Rell said in the press release.
