Left out of the recent presidential debate in New Hampshire, Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich and his buddy singer-songwriter Willie Nelson, filed a civil rights lawsuit against the Texas Democratic Party last week.
The party has refused to certify Kucinich’s primary ballot because Kucinich crossed out the loyalty oath on the ballot application. The oath states: “I further swear that I will fully support the Democratic nominee fore President, whoever that shall be.”
Kucinich and Nelson contend the oath is not a requirement for ballot access in the Lone Star state. In the lawsuit they say the Texas Republican Party does not require the loyalty oath.
Kucinich and Nelson filed their lawsuit Jan. 2 in U.S. District Court in Western Texas.
