(Updated: 1:07 p.m.) The turmoil at the police department reached the chief’s office Monday as Cisco Ortiz prepared to announce his retirement.
The city organized a 3 p.m. press conference at City Hall at which Ortiz, flanked by Mayor John DeStefano, is expected to announce he’s leaving his post as police chief.
Ortiz is expected to remain on the job for at least a few weeks as a national search commences for a replacement. He is also expected to take a security job with Yale University.
