West Hartford Citizens for Peace & Justice present a Town Hall forum titled: The Role of Dissent in Our Democracy.

The forum at West Hartford’s Town Hall will begin at 7 p.m., Oct. 9 and will include a discussion with special guest Colonel Ann Wright.

An excerpt from their press release and more details about the event are included below:

After more than four and a half years as an occupying and destructive force in Iraq, almost 4,000 American soldiers lives lost, and countless tens—-if not hundreds—-of thousands Iraqi civilians killed, what role does dissent play in the lives of Americans who are fed up, frustrated, and fuming about American Foreign Policy under the Bush Administration? And, how what we do——and don’t do now—-will affect Foreign Policy in the next administration…

Join the discussion after Colonel Ann Wright shares her experiences as a career military and foreign diplomat, and how she made the decision to hand in her resignation to her superior, Secretary of State, Colin Powell on March 23, 2003.

The event sponsored by the West Hartford Citizens for Peace and Justice will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 at the West Hartford Town Hall Auditorium, 50 South Main St., West Hartford. State Rep. Andrew Fleischman, D-West Hartford, will moderate the event.
