The Connecticut Working Families Party, New Britain legislators, and community activists will hold a rally Monday to ask a local Wal-Mart to put an end to its alleged discrimination.
According to the Working Families Party, a number of current and former Wal-Mart employees of the New Britain store allege that they have been unfairly disciplined and singled out because of speaking Spanish on the job. Many also claim a history of racially motivated firings.
The rally will call on the New Britain store to create a story policy to allow Spanish speaking employees to communicate with Spanish speaking customers in that language while on duty.
The rally begins at 4:15 p.m. Monday on the sidewalk outside of Wal-Mart, 655 Farmington Ave, New Britain.
