Tom Swan, executive director of the Connecticut Citizens Action Group, called on senate leaders to investigate the actions of Republican Senator Louis DeLuca in this
letter sent Thursday.

In 2005, DeLuca asked an alleged mobster to assault a man he suspected was abusing his granddaughter. DeLuca plead guilty to threatening charges last month and has since stepped down from his leadership position.

“On behalf of the nearly thirty thousand member families of the Connecticut Citizen Action Group we are asking you to appoint a bi-partisan Committee of Inquiry to investigate this matter and to make appropriate recommendations to the entire Senate as to how this matter should be handled,” Swan wrote in a letter to Senate President Donald Williams, D-Brooklyn, and Minority Leader John McKinney, R-Southport.

In response to Swan’s letter Williams sent out an email saying, “Senator McKinney and I have had a couple of discussions regarding this matter, and while we haven’t completely resolved the issue, we have decided that if we do go forward it will be in a bipartisan manner. I fully anticipate this issue will be resolved well before the start of the 2008 legislative session.”
