The House was expected to go into session at 6 p.m. Friday to begin discussions on the budget, but things don’t always move forward as planned at the state Capitol.
The printing of the gigantic fiscal note is taking time and in addition Democratic leaders were still haggling with Gov. M. Jodi Rell’s budget director over implementation language and an executive order to exceed the state spending cap. In order to pass the budget the General Assembly needs Rell to sign an executive order so it can pass a budget with an estimated increase in spending just under 9 percent.
The House is expected to go in around 9 p.m….make that 12 am Saturday, and the Senate has already decided it will take up the budget 11 a.m. Saturday.
