Senator Gayle Slossberg, D-Milford, brought out the clean contracting bill, similar to the one the governor has vetoed three times, around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

But with three hours left in the current session, Speaker of the House James Amann, D-Milford, said even if the Senate passed it the House would not take it up tonight because the Republicans are determined to filibuster it.

Yet the debate in the Senate continues.

Sen. President Donald Williams, D-Brooklyn, said “we’ll deal with it at midnight.” It’s unclear whether the bill could be brought up during special session.
