The national debate over immigration returned to New Haven’s door Wednesday, as feds raided Fair Haven homes and arrested undocumented immigrants.
• At least 13 immigrants—probably more—were detained and sent out of state. City Hall’s Kica Matos called the raids a “disgrace” and linked the action to New Haven’s new municipal i.d. plan; the feds denied it.
New Haven Mayor John DeStefano who was up at the Capitol Wednesday afternoon said these were not criminal deportation orders, but he finds it incredibly difficult to believe this raid is “not connected to what we did two days ago.”
