Sen. Jonathan Harris, D-West Hartford,(pictured) told WTIC Radio Host Colin McEnroe Tuesday that the Catholic Conference has pulled away from a compromise to distribute emergency contraception to rape victims at Catholic Hospitals.
Harris said the church has informally ended the conversation with legislators who hoped for a compromise by getting a third-party to distribute it to rape victims brought to Catholic Hospitals. In addition, legislators added a pregnancy test to the legislation so the Catholic Church could feel comfortable saying they didn’t contribute to an abortion.
