Several thousand low-income legal immigrants in Connecticut are at risk of losing their state-funded health care and other services because of actions taken by the state Department of Social Services (DSS). Legal advocates like Sheldon Toubman of New Haven Legal Assistance Association (pictured) are calling those actions unconstitutional. The Attorney General told the Independent he, too, believes “serious constitutional” issues are at stake; so he has put two cases that had gone forward on hold while his office looks into the matter.
