“Human Heart Explodes,” a documentary film produced and written by two Hartford area natives will premiere 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at Real Art Ways in Hartford. The film produced and written by Matt Orefice and directed by Helder Mira documents the struggles of one man’s desire to build a kindergarten in a Macedonian town where the mayor won’t speak to him and those who aren’t part of the Roma minority are hurt foreigners are helping the group of Roma Gypsies.
Orefice first met the main character, Safet Tairov, while he was in the Peace Corps. He described Tairov in a recent radio interview as a “one man non-governmental organization.” The film documents Tairov’s struggle to get the school built with a promise of a donation from a group of Germans. The event is not being publicized on the Real Art Ways web site, but consider yourself invited.
