The largest of the four traveling Vietnam Walls came to Windsor’s Town Green this weekend. It is the first stop this year for the traveling memorial. “The purpose of the traveling tribute is not to glorify wars fought, but to pay homage to those who served their country,” the pamphlet explaining the memorial states. It may be 20 percent smaller than the memorial in Washington DC, but just as moving judging by the bits and pieces left behind by those who came to remember their loved ones lost in the war. It is the soldier, not the reporter,Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, andwhose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
